WHAT IS ORCHESTRA?

Orchestra is a music group consisting of students playing the violin, viola, cello and bass.

WHAT DO YOU DO?

We play all different kinds of music including:

  • Classical

  • Fiddle

  • Jazz

  • Movie Themes

  • Songs

We give 3 special concerts each year to share our music with family and friends.

HOW DO I CHOOSE WHICH INSTRUMENT TO PLAY?

In elementary, students will select either the violin or cello. Opportunities to switch to viola or bass will be in their second year of playing.

Select the instrument that you like the sound of best. If you need help deciding, ask your teacher.

Your teacher will also help you determine what size of instrument you will need.

HOW DO I GET AN INSTRUMENT?

Rental:

All students will need to rent instruments from local music stores. Violins range from $25-30/month and cellos range from $40-45/month.

Purchase:

Please contact your teacher before purchasing an instrument. Mr. Scott,

Mr. Smith, or Mrs. Bunch will be happy to help you find an instrument that is in playable condition and in the correct size for the student. Some instruments are poorly made and often cost more to repair than they cost to buy.

Help with choosing an instrument:

If you would like help choosing an instrument, contact your teacher to set up an appointment.
